Cricut font maker: your own font for Design Space
This Cricut font maker creates a font for vinyl, iron-on and card projects in your own style or handwriting. Install the TTF and use it in Cricut Design Space like any other font, with clean outlines that cut and weed easily.
Free account includes 150 credits: enough to make and preview your first font. Credits come back if a font fails.
How to use the Cricut font maker
Describe the style you want, such as "chunky rounded retro letters", upload a logo to copy, or photograph your handwriting. Press Make and the Cricut font maker draws every letter, number and punctuation mark in 1–3 minutes. Check it in the free preview and type tester, then unlock the download and install the TTF on your computer. It appears in Design Space under System fonts.
How to add your font to Cricut Design Space
Download the TTF, double-click it and choose Install on Windows or Install Font on Mac. Close Design Space completely and open it again so it picks up the new font. Add a text box, open the font menu, choose System and search for your font name. On iPhone and iPad, install the font with a font manager app first, then restart the Cricut app.
Font styles that cut well on a Cricut
Bold, rounded letters with simple shapes are the easiest to cut and weed: bubble letters, retro display, chunky sans and marker-style handwriting. Very thin scripts, tiny serifs and hairline details tear or get lost in vinyl at small sizes. When you describe a style for the Cricut font maker, ask for "heavy" or "medium weight" and "rounded corners" for the cleanest cuts.
Clean outlines for cutting and weeding
Every letter is a closed vector shape with its holes cut out, so Design Space cuts each letter as one piece and the inside of an "o" or "a" weeds out cleanly. Letters are spaced and kerned automatically, so words cut evenly. For script fonts where letters should join, set the letter spacing a little tighter and use Weld before cutting.
Your handwriting as a Cricut font
Photograph a few lines of your writing, or fill in our printable template for an exact copy, and the Cricut font maker turns it into a font. It is a favorite for personalized mugs, recipe labels, cards signed in your own hand, and gifts in a grandparent's handwriting. Use a marker or felt-tip so the strokes are thick enough to cut.
Project ideas for a custom Cricut font
Vinyl decals for mugs, tumblers and jars, iron-on lettering for T-shirts and tote bags, pantry and storage labels, wedding signs and place cards, birthday banners, stencils for painted signs, and Etsy products in a style nobody else sells. Accented letters are included for Spanish, French, German and 24 more languages.
